These are just a few things on my current to-do list! I’m sure that some will fall off the list or take years to do- but I thought that sharing this little list might spur me on!
I don’t think I’m alone in having a list of craft projects as long as my arm! I’ve come to terms with the fact that the list will only ever get longer. For every project I finish, I think of zillions more that I want to start!
Whilst doing my degree in Fine Art- one of my mentors told me that I would never be 100% satisfied with anything I make. I found this a bit upsetting until they explained that if I was 100% satisfied with something, I wouldn’t feel the need to make something else/ something better! In short- I would cease to be creative.
I agree with this to a certain extent. Wanting to improve and move on is in the nature of an artist/ maker. Everything we do inspires the the next project and I often feel more excited about planning the next project than I am about the one I’m currently working on!
I love the feeling I get just thinking about my next project. Pondering on colours and textures, riffling through books and shade cards and emptying my yarn or fabric stash onto the floor to plan things out. It gives me so much joy!
I’ve also realised that I always feel a bit disappointed when finishing a project, because I’ve enjoyed the process of making it so much I don’t want it to end! I do love the meditative state of knitting and the pure contentment I get from the process of making.
