I hope you’re all well and staying safe. This is a little reminder (for me as much as you!) that we need to start planning extra early for Christmas shopping this year.
I’m sure there will be extra demands on delivery services this Christmas and some independent retailers (like me) might be limiting deliveries to reduce risk. Our local post office has narrow isles and a one way system that doesn’t work (because when you put arrows facing in opposite directions on top of each other… it’s not one way!).
Shopping small might mean allowing a bit more time for things to arrive, but you’ll get a more personal service and it’s so important that we support independent shops that we want to stay in business, in whatever way we can, through this difficult year.
I’m so lucky to have many fantastic small shops near me who have found ways to work during the pandemic. We’ve been having the majority of our food shopping delivered to the doorstep from local independents… and we’ve been particularly enjoying afternoon teas from Pudding Pantry and wine from Brigitte Bordeaux.
If it looks like your favorite shop isn’t set up for online sales, it’s still worth giving them a call – they might be able to advise you and take your order over the phone. And if you’re not sure what to buy – check whether they do gift vouchers. That’s a great way to support the shop now and to spread out the Christmas fun for the recipient.
I’m planning to launch some gift vouchers on my shop soon… watch this space!
